TUG1
Summary: This gene produces a long non-coding RNA that interacts with the Polycomb repressor complex and functions in the epigenetic regulation of transcription. This RNA promotes cell proliferation and is upregulated in tumor cells. It may act as a sponge for microRNAs. The homologous mouse gene is required for differentiation of retina. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2017].
